Optimares Spa: Excellence in Airline Seating Design
In today’s blog post we’ll explore a customer application of the Beetronics 19’’ to 22’’ touchscreens. Optimares Spa is based in Italy and has since 2009 designed airline seating with unmatched safety and comfort, all in a luxurious package.
They describe themselves as a company that goes beyond the pursuit of excellence in the technical design of their products, integrating dedicated services into efficient and personalized solutions for travellers the world over.
They’ve recently shared their prototype with us, in which they’ve integrated our reliable touchscreens. Their luxury seating solution SoFab aims to bring next level innovation in comfort and luxury to business class travellers, while also reducing their environmental impact, adding value to both the airline, clients and environment all at once.
The SoFab: Luxury and Sustainability Combined
The SoFab was revealed at the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg last year and was shortlisted for the International Yacht and Aviation Awards for 2024, as well as the RedCabin Award. They went on to win the iF Design Award for 2024, one of the most prestigious design awards in the industry, and it’s plain to see why.
As we previously mentioned the luxury seating aims to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of each traveller by a staggering 63 kg thanks to its lightweight design, along with comfortable seats made from sustainable and eco-friendly materials.
With SoFab, less is clearly more – say Bon Voyage to complicated buttons, because both the seating and display are cleverly designed to be easily adjusted via simple mechanical movements.
Improving User-Experience with Touch Technology
Thanks to the responsive capacitive touchscreen and Optimares Spa’s intuitive seating design, you can enjoy a seamless travel experience while minimizing the time spent adjusting the seat or display with awkwardly placed buttons. Instead, put your feet up by simply sliding the footrest into place and selecting the desired inflight entertainment at the touch of a finger, just as you would on your smartphone.
Selecting the Perfect Display Solution
So why did Optimares Spa decide to use Beetronics displays in their innovative business class seating project? We spoke with Giampaolo Pandolfi, a Project Engineer at Optimares, who explained that the size, image and sound quality were of utmost importance when making a selection for their prototype.
